First and foremost - Iguanas are wild animals. These have not been domesticated and it's up to us to try and live with and earn the trust of these amazing animals. Iguanas hit the main stream pet trade a few years ago. They market cheap with promises of easy care requirements. They are not cheap, nor are they easy. They have a tail they can use as an effective whip and teeth compared to a tiger shark. They can cause severe damage if they are not socialized or have an exceptionally bad breeding season. Females can be just as dangerous, but not as often. The females can lay eggs even without a male present. They can become egg-bound if not cared for right requiring an emergency spay.
