Little bubble my baby pacman seemed to be doing good, he popped 3 times, and grew half an inch. Until this morning I found him motionless with his legs outstretched, so i pecked him up and he closed his eyes and opened his mouth.:( I thought he was dead, but he wasn't. I put him into a container with water and he started running around, and I fed him a worm. Then he was running around and I changed his tank. I wet him and he outstretched his legs again. I did him CPR pushing his belly etc. He was okay again :) but then when I put him into his GREAT looking tank, he did it again. I think he shows the sign of Red Leg. :-[ He is a little chubby and doesn't eat well...
Symptoms
- Lethargic, lazy, groggy frog
- Red colored patches underneath the frog on its legs
- Seems to be bloated almost
- Lack of appetite
I got Iodine and I will bathe him in water with a few drops of it. I hope he will be ok :-[
Please guys wih for little Bubble to be ok

How horrible and scary. Keep up the good work Mom (froggie Mom).
I don't want to be a big buzz kill here but often times when they are ill they will show slight improvement and still end up succumbing to the illness. I guess be prepared: Expect the worst but hope for the best (my motto) OK? I am wishing you and your frog good health and long life!!!!
Positive vibes positive vibes positive vibes...

:) Thanks. He's still doing good, and he walks around when I spray him. I tried to find out anything that could cause anything like what happened to him..but I found nothing. Maybe I fed him too much, he does look pretty fatty...Maybe stomach cramps? Can frogs have them?

You're sure your temps are right? Is it getting UV and does it have a little water pool to climb into if it wants?

Yes to water bowl, but no UVB lights since the petstore owner said it makes albinos blind
Thanks

Poor Bubbles! Man I wish I had an answer for you. I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to amphibians and their diseases. I know you thought it might be Red-Leg, is there any clear indication of reddening? I know this is not always a given, but I question this because there's also a virus called Ranavirus that can mimick symptoms of Red-Leg. Did you consult a Rep. Vet about Bubbles symptoms?

First I would strongly suggest you STOP the iodine soaks! Iodine is HIGHLY toxic to amphibians! The skin is extremely porous and absorbs toxins easily. Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) is a much safer alternative for many ailments and non-toxic when diluted right. Better even than Povidone-iodine (which is preferably used over straight iodine). 10-15 drops per gallon of water and it can be safely drank or absorbed whereas the povidone-iodine and iodine can cause illness and death.

Two things I had totally forgotten about until this thread.
I know it's really tough Skinky. I wish you had some sort of veterinary support in your area.

No one deals with reptiles here. It cost $100 to get medicine for my snapper when he had roundworms from a CAT clinic, since all the rest I called said they don't take turtles. They thought he was a RES :o
He's moving around and everything. I think hes getting better. No, no red blotches.
I have 2.5 % iodine, and I put in 1 drop into a container (12x7 inches) with 2 cm water.
I wasn't sure about grapefruit seed extract cause it has parbens etc. in it, and when I tried it a while ago it was really bitter, and I thought my frog might now like bitter too much...LOL
Thanks everyone :)
Since I have been sort of talking only about my pacman only in this thread I thought I would tell you guys about how I fell asleep with my snapper yesterday. I took him into a towel on to my bed and we fell asleep together, it was so cute, I bet he's the nicest snapper ever (except for yours, if you have one) ::)

I really like the grape fruit seed extract. I take it in the pill form though which also has oregano in it too. But when ever I have an upset stomach I knock back 2 of them and within a 1/2 hour most times I feel much better.
GSE and oregano are both said to have parasite killing properties. I know that when my corn was regurging all the time that it was recommended that I go purchase the purest GSE I could find to try and reduce any parasites and increase the gut flora.
I have been wondering about GSE and its use in treating Cryptosporidiosis (Crypto) in reptiles. GSE is said to attack protozoan parasites, so in theory it could treat crypto and would be a safer alternative to try than chemicals.

It might be redleg, might be something else. I found that frgs have seizures which is describbed just like Bubbles. It says its mostly from the habitat or stress. And it CAN be healed.
I use Oregano, and Garlic, activated chacoal etc. If I have a flu or activated chacoal for upset stomach.

No, yours is probably the nicest snapper. Mine jumps at you when you walk past the tank, wanting to take a chunk outta you. ::)
