Don't put it water to find out. Things could go wrong.

I highly doubt they are able to swim. We have put ours in very shallow water, about 1/4 inch, to help loosen the shed stuck on their toes and they didn't seem too interested.

Placing them in water can cause the water to go down the nose and down the wrong area in the throat, leading to their lungs. This in turn can lead to a respiratory infection which can be deadly if not treated. Now mine will lay in the water dish sometimes, but don't take too kindly to being placed in water where they can't get out.
