Didn't know where else to put this :-\

"Sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning someone broke into the Wilderness Trails wildlife park in Birch Run, Michigan. They took 6 large tortoises...4 female Sulcatas ranging in size from 12 to 65 pounds, and 2 Leopard torts 10 inches and 20+ inches. The Leopard torts belong to us, Mid Michigan Reptile Rescue, and were on loan to the park.

If anyone happens to see any tortoises fitting this description for sale in the Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois area I'd appreciate a heads up. Thanks! "

Please forward this message through your network to assist in the recovery and prevent the sales of these tortoises. If you are perusing through the paper or internet classifieds, please keep an eye out for these animals. Jane is a personal friend of mine and I can also vouch for the rescue itself.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Something they don't mention that they did on the local news tonight is that the Sulcatas all have a chip missing in a lower rear scute on the carapace not the plastron :o

Looks like the right place for posting to me. This went up on one of the iguana forums I belong to from the woman who had these torts on loan to the park. She's a regular on the forum. Sounds like someone knew exactly what they were after... >:(.
