Recommend Good Gauges?

Can anyone recommend a good thermometer and a good humdity gauge to put in a snake's enclosure please?

If you plan on eventually having more than 1 snake I'd suggest buying a Temp gun. That way you'll be able to measure the temps anywhere in any cage you have.

Otherwise Exo-Terra makes both Temp and Humidity gauges that are easy to read IMO.

I second the temp gun. It's great for getting surface temperatures. Plus when your not checking the reptile tanks its always fun to play with. We got ours at a hobby store in the RC section. Its by tempgun.com.

I like the digital gauges better. They seem to be more accurate as the analog humidity gauges just seem cheaply made with the cardboard and plastic parts.

I second the temp gun! I've wrecked too many of the in-tank gauges to want to bother with them anymore.

I use the Accurite brand indoor/outdoor thermometers. You don't need pinpoint precision. Temp guns are good for surface areas - but NOT for measuring air temps.

Good point Prism !! For ambient air temps you need a regular gauge.
And I also agree with Rwagoner about the digital gauges .. they are a lot more accurate but they are more expensive ( at least the ones I've seen are ). It depends on the reptiles you keep and your living situation ... if you have critters that are less forgiving of temp / humidity changes and you're in a place where the temp/humidity changes a lot I'd say the digital ones are the better way to go.

The accurites are digital - and I also have a temp gun for the surface temps. Wouldn't do without either one... ;D

I recommend NO thermometer gauge. Temp guns are BEST! You can purchase a hydrometer because I know of no guns that reads the humidity like temp gun do with their lazer.

Hydrometer is used to measure specific gravity, not humidity. That would be a hygrometer. ;)
