This was sent to me in an email and the only thing I've found on it is from a foreign racing forum. The original picture has this name: sucuri_na_BR_364.jpg

There was a post to the pic , in Dutch I think. I tried to translate it through 'babel fish' but the snake wasn't named. I wonder what it is.
On second thought, I just took a good look at it. Seems to be an Anaconda ;)

Yup, I think you're right ;)
And Jen, I'd love to find somethin' like that draped across the road. I'd be the one bouncin' around like a kid in a candy store shoutin', "Somebody got a sack big enough to put this guy in?"

When my step-dad sent this he asked if I would "leave it alone or keep driving." I would have been the one at least luring it out of the road. I was thinking my leg might have made a good "carrot" for this mule... ;D

I wouldn't want to see what it would look like if someone ran it over...that would be..yuck.

I wonder how fast a snake this big can really move on land... ??? It looks like it would be a real chore.

LOL...I think hubby would need a little help with that one...say maybe...another 6-7 people... :o
Maybe Veronica, but the adrenaline runnin' through ya at a time like that might trick ya into thinkin' you could handle it ;)

Wow what an incredible snake!!! I sure hope it didn't end up a road burger. I hate seeing squashed rattlers when I'm out driving. The morons around here think it's funny to aim for them. >:(
Armadillos get killed the same way. I hated hitch hiking through Florida. LOL, I tried to talk one gal into stopping so I could catch one. If I remember correctly she let me out shortly after that  Ahhhhh, the memories ;D

I remember being little and always seeing dead armadillos in Florida, never did you see a live one. My mom saw a few and made my dad stop in the middle of the road so we can see them. They were so cute, man do I want to take one home.

Something to keep in mind about armadillos...they are the only other animal that can carry and pass leprosy. I'm sure the chances are very small...even smaller than getting salmonella from reptiles...but salmonella you can cure - leprosy is forever... :-\
The disease seems to have mutated slightly, but it's thought to still carry a very small chance of infecting humans.

I don't hink you'll be able to tell the difference of 200lbs or 300lbs when that thing is turning you into jelly.
LOLOL, probably not but it looks bigger than 200 pounds to me too

Sure. Just get a BIG tube with food at the end of it. When it go inside release some sleeping gas into it. Now you gotta find a way to get it on a scale.
ROTFLMAO!!!
I'll pick up one of those you can suspend from someplace on the way down

Yup .. thats a Green Anaconda.
I wonder how fast a snake this big can really move on land...
If you've been around other large snakes like Burmese, Retics or large Common Boas, the speed is about the same. A friend of mine would bring a 15ft one out to the MN Renaissance Festival ( the MN Herp. Society participates out there as the King's royal exotic zoo ;D ) so I've been around one a few times. Not to mention the Yellow Anaconda we have at TCR ... but those don't get nearly as large and they have a nasty disposition :o. The big green was sold but we now have 1 baby green and its pretty cool .. but I have to be careful when handling it .. this one doesn't strike like most snakes .. if it's going to bite you it sneaks up and just chomps ya. But it hasn't tried to bite me ... yet :P
